Tour of the bathroom and the two person Sauna. Discussion of designer term "movement". Kerry demonstrates the watertight like a boat bench seat and shows the toilet with a foot pedal instead of a handle. He talks about the glass door between the sauna and the shower.  He designed the glass door so the glass could be easily cleaned and protect the sauna from the shower water. There is motion sensor that automatically turns on the LED lights when entering the bathroom and shuts off 5 minutes after exiting. The light from the bathroom is enough to see his way up the stairs and get comfortable in the sleeping loft and then the lights turn off automatically.

Bathroom Tour
While we did try to maximize space in our tiny house, we still made sure to have a warm relaxing space to revitalize and detox. We originally had the sauna in our cabin, but decided we would utilize it in our Tiny House Hope Cottage and made our tiny living cottage into a “glamping” bed-and-breakfast amenity.

The Bathroom became more important in our situation than most of the Tiny Houses on Wheels because we designed our bathroom to include a two person sauna. Most tiny houses on wheels will not fit two people in the bathroom let alone have room for a shower, sauna, flushing toilet, dressing area, closet and a sink vanity with three storage drawers.

stairs to the sleeping loft

We didn't like the idea of a ladder going to the loft for our tiny house on wheels. So instead, a stairway was created using standard sizes of rise and tread. Rather than a full stairway, a 20" landing was created at the top creating a seat where socks and other clothing (you know), can be removed and then you are in the loft.

I document our progress everyday during our construction of our first Tiny House on Wheels. We named this tiny house our “Hope Island Cottage”.

Below, this is one of my favorite relaxing pastimes, laying in the sleeping loft and looking up through the skylights at the tops of the evergreen fur trees.

Project description

I figure that if the house you’re creating is very small, you might as well put some of the time and money saved on square footage into good design and quality materials.
  In fact, in a tiny house, good design becomes all the more important.

Exterior cladding is board-and-batten;
○ windows are insulated, low-e;
○ I prefer metal roofs because they’re durable, shed the elements readily, and (unlike shingles) won’t blow off if the house is taken to the open road.
• All elements are sized to minimize construction waste and make the best use of materials.

• I recommend using rigid expanded polystyrene panels with metal foil on one side for exterior insulation.
○ It’s affordable, easy to install, much thinner than the equivalent amount of fiberglass,
○ and doesn’’t need a separate vapor barrier.
And doesn't mold or mildew
